Tuesday, July 20th, 2010 Last March, we were honored to record a session at Big Orange Studios in Austin, TX for one of the Internet's finest websites, Daytrotter. The results - including a revamped version of old fave "Ana M" and an acoustic rendition of new song "Sore" - can be listened-to here. Sunday, June 20th, 2010 Happy Father's Day everybody. We're playing Brooklyn's getting-better-every-year Northside Festival next week, and have a couple of solid shows in July, including one with NC's outstanding Love Language. All the dates are in the SHOWS section. Friday, March 12th, 2010 Our new EP is done. You can download it, for free, in the MUSIC section. You can also stream the whole thing on our MySpace page. Tuesday, March 9th, 2010 Wow, it's almost SXSW. Can't believe it -- a year ago, I was playing a zillion shows down there with Harlem Shakes. Now, we're doing 5 shows with ARMS... which, come to think of it, ain't too shabby. Do we have a van? Not yet! But we'll figure it out. Seriously, if anyone has a van or knows of one, email me at toddiangoldstein@gmail.com - seriously. ANYWHOOZLES, this is where we'll be in Austin. It all starts with the biggest Thursday ever: Thursday, March 18th - TG SOLO @ Hideout (1pm) Thursday, March 18th - LA Snacks Party @ Club Primos (5:30pm) Thursday, March 18th - Hardly Art Official Showcase @ Galaxy Room (7:30pm) Saturday, March 20th - Pianos NYC Party @ Kung Fu Saloon (4pm) So that's what's up. Got a couple more shows in NYC before we go, too, up in the SHOWS section. Oh, and our new EP drops on FRIDAY, BITCHES. Tuesday, February 9th, 2010 Happy belated new year! Couple of good things happening right now / coming up. 1. We recorded an acoustic session for the new, excellent blog Big Ugly Yellow Couch, playing two new songs and one old on blogmistress Carlye's aforementioned couch. Watch the session here, it's pretty good. 2. We have several new shows up in the SHOWS section. Many TG solo, many with the full band, all fun. 3. We're going to SXSW! More information forthcoming. Happy almost-Valentine's Day. Surprises are in store... Wednesday, December 23rd Couple of big shows coming in the new year (2010). Terminal Five on January 9th w/ Passion Pit [SOLD OUT, unfortunately] and Knitting Factory on January 23rd w/ Acrylics, In Cadeo [RSVP on Facebook] Kids Aflame's re-release has been going swimmingly. Pitchfork, predictably, wasn't too impressed, but Paste called it one of 2009's criminally underrated albums, Prefix enjoyed the shit out of it, and BrooklynVegan's been paying us a good bit of attention. More nice words to come, hopefully. Tuesday, October 13th We (that is, ARMS, the band) will be playing a few CMJ shows. (See below for info on one of them. We're on at 9pm sharp.) We'll also be playing a record-release party on November 12th, at Pianos. Tuesday, August 18th, 2009 KIDS AFLAME will be re-released on Gigantic Music on October 27th. How do you like that? Tuesday, July 28th, 2009 Putting together a new, smaller band, playing a few shows this month. Looking forward to it! Tuesday, June 24th, 2009 Wow... I really haven't updated this in a while. Well, looks like KIDS AFLAME will be getting a US release pretty soon. Been touring a lot with Harlem Shakes, that's fun... writing material for a new album, hopefully get a band together and record it... Yeah, that's about it. Good stuff coming soon though, promise! Monday, November 3rd, 2008 Holy crap people -- there's an election tomorrow. Also, this coming weekend I'll be heading across the "pond" (Atlantic Ocean) to the UK and Spain, guitar and uke in hand, to play a handful of pretty fantastic solo shows. Here they are: *** Friday, November 7th -- The Dulcimer -- Manchester, UK *** Sunday, November 9th -- The Windmill Brixton (w/ Windmill) -- London, UK *** Monday, November 10th -- Chess Club @ the Social (w/ It Hugs Back) -- London, UK *** Wednesday, November 12th -- Tanned Tin Festival -- Castellon, Spain If you live in any of these countries, come to these shows and say HI -- I'd basically melt into a puddle of joy to meet people who like ARMS and live in foreign countries. FRIDAY, OCTOBER 10th, 2008 Couple of things. 1. ARMS will be playing a big full-band show for the always-important CMJ festival in New York. The Details: ARMS destroys CMJ (Rebel Group showcase) Thursday, October 23rd (7:45 sharp!) @ Fontana's (105 Eldridge St b/w Broome and Grand) w/ Lovely Sparrows, Pepi Ginsberg, the Forms, Jukebox the Ghost 2. ARMS' first UK TOUR is coming up in about a MONTH! AAAGGGGGH!!!! Dates are in the shows section. TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 2nd, 2008 Show coming up: ARMS w/ Speck Mountain Monday, September 8th (7:30pm doors) @ Union Hall (702 Union St at 5th Ave, PARK SLOPE, bk) $8 Fantastic. SATURDAY, JULY 5th, 2008 Happy day after your birthday, America! So here's what's happening: After playing my songs by myself for way, way too long, I've finally put a band together. It's got members of three of my favorite bands in the world -- Get Him Eat Him (Jeff Wood, drums; Joe Posner, bass), Frances (Brian Betancourt, guitar), and Harlem Shakes (Kendrick Strauch, keyboards; Me, guitar and singing). We'll be playing a bigass RECORD RELEASE PARTY on Tuesday, July 29th at Union Pool in Williamsburg. This will be your first and possibly only time to see ARMS as a 'real' band, people, so let's pop some fucking champagne and play some sadass pop songs. (It's also a nice way to pick up a hard copy of the CD, which isn't easy to come by in the old US of A.) MONDAY, JUNE 30th, 2008 The album, KIDS AFLAME, is now available pretty everywhere in both the UK and the INTERNET. There are a few links below, but if you just GOOGLE SEARCH that bad boy you should come across some means of attaining the damn thing. SUNDAY, JUNE 15th, 2008 So, even though the record isn't "technically" out until June 30th, KIDS AFLAME is now available for download at ITUNES and EMUSIC (along with a few of the other usual digital-type sites). You can also buy it in real, gorgeous physical form from the MELODIC SHOP online store. (Leah Beeferman did the art, she rules it.) Go! Buy! Listen! Enjoy! This is a very exciting day. THURSDAY, MAY 29th, 2008 Save that date: ARMS' first full-length record, KIDS AFLAME, comes out on June 30th, 2008 on melodic records. In the meantime, check out a few songs from the album on ARMS' MYSPACE PAGE.
